How we check facts
Every fact on this site links to where it came from and says how sure we are.
Where facts come from
We use primary sources: the company's own post, the research paper, the official filing, or the person's own words on the record, with the time stamp for video and podcasts. When only a news report exists, we say so and mark the fact unconfirmed.
What the labels mean
- Confirmed: The company or person involved says it, or an official document shows it.
- Reported: Someone who looked into it firsthand, like a researcher or security firm, says it on the record. The people involved haven't confirmed it.
- Unconfirmed: Claimed, but we haven't found proof yet.
- Disputed: Someone involved says it's wrong.
Quotes
Every quote is copied from the source and checked word for word against the original page or recording.
Nothing goes up on its own
Software helps us spot stories. A person reads every fact sheet and approves it before it appears here.
Mistakes
If we got something wrong, we check it against the original and fix it.
